Csaba FAZAKAS |
CSABA FAZAKAS, fine artist, started his studies in Marosvásárhely (Targu Mures, Romania) where - as a high school student - he acquired basic skills, as well as the professional crafts of painting, graphic and ceramic art. He later perfected his knowledge privately under his chosen masters Mircia Dumitrescu in Bucharest at the end of the 1970s, and Arnulf Rainer and Adolf Frohner in Vienna from 1990-1992, following the political changes.
He is an intellectual artist with an experimental temperament, who deliberately draws on vanguard traditions of the 20th Century. After his early art experiments (installations, performances etc.) he is now committed to panel painting. Although his pastels - irregular diptychs - were created in the abstract form, Csaba Fazakas has never given up figurative representation. His art is characterised by anthropocentricity, sensitivity to individual and social problems and, at the same time, a special timelessness and universality.
Csaba Fazakas deepens his knowledge through scientific methodology. In practice, he applies his various university studies from the last 10 years, including social pedagogy and experimentation with new methods of art therapy. His admiration of expressive phrasing and art brut is evident in his new works as well. The application of strong gestures and fine fractures, which are reduced to almost black and white colouring, assign a dramatic feeling to his art.
He has been exhibiting his art for 45 years. The public have been able to view his works at numerous individual and group exhibitions from Bucharest to Budapest, from Vienna to Tokyo. He lives and works in Vienna.
